HELLO!
I am Patrick, Owner of GLORY Carpet Cleaning. This accident began a trial for our family run business,
About 4 pm Tuesday evening September 26, David, a passenger, and Joseph, our Driver-technician, were just ending a busy day of carpet cleaning in the Marlborough CT area.
It was our busy pre-Thanksgiving rush season with about 30 jobs pending on the next weeks of our calendar.
Entering the Marlborough ‘on ramp’ to CT-2 not 500 feet after merging on to the slower ‘climb lane’ on Route 2
a Silverado truck one anonymous witness said was clocking 90 mph for at least 25 miles (he was being followed from Norwich area) came up upon our truck and we presume he could not pass
on the Left side of us, and, “following too close,” (Sole-Infraction) he hit our right rear door in a glancing blow that spun him off in a 360 degree shoulder resting place.
Joseph, after the impact found his truck in the middle lane, then with safety in mind pulled over to the shoulder near the overpass. Not minutes later police appeared.
Thankfully, nothing happened to injure either of us Lanyons. The driver was taken to the hospital and released while his vehicle was towed to his garage facility –
both vehicles were rendered a total loss. Our truck had just ended a 10-year factory warranty, and we were just ready to begin the super-profitmaking years with this truck we were keeping in mint condition!
Joseph was able to drive the truck home on back streets and we used the truck close to home cleaning the rest of the week.
But not two weeks later Christine, our mother and my wife began experiencing symptoms of a serious fast growing cranial tumor on October 9th.
By the 13th symptons were serious enough to drive her late Friday afternoon, October 13, to the Emergency room of UConn. There a neurosurgeon who later did the surgery
was doing ER duty that Friday night. He accurately predicted her “malignant glioblastoma tumor.” This story is told in more detail here: https://aprayernotebook.net/queenchristine/seeit.html
We have purchased a new replacement vehicle and still clean just like before, but heavy hearts are only slowly lightening in our Family run business. We do thank you for your patronage…
Sincerely, C. Pat Lanyon, David Lanyon, and Joseph Lanyon.
