GLORY Carpet Homeland

Cleaning in Your HOME with Extraction Excellence

Winter, 2003

Carpet Cleaning Is Really "Air" Cleaning

Season's Greetings To You!

Happy Holidays and Our Very Best wishes to you for a prosperous and peaceful new year!

Each year we give a seasonal gift calendar (enclosed with this mailing) that we've found to be the most used in offices we've cleaned. We thought your desk at home is a great place for them too. This year we're announcing a newer style choice, and if you prefer to receive it, PLEASE CALL US to make the change.

Indicate which you would prefer:

Some are available now if anyone would like one for 2004.

A Big Thank You

Thank you is an expression that never wears out! Each time it is said, it brings a warm feeling of appreciation, and inspires a new push to bring better service. We are grateful to hear from our clients. Even though it is because they have need of our service, we love to also have your friendship.

When the average customer calls back, however, a long period of our busy life seems to have flown by. And if you're one who doesn't clean at least once a year, please see this quote in the carpet cleaning standard:

"Consumers must not wait until carpet looks soiled before cleaning. Significant soil accumulation at the base of the carpet fibers occurs long before it is visible at the fiber tips. Experts agree that clean carpet contributes not only to the overall aesthetics of a structure, but it plays a significant role in the healthful state of the overall environment in which people work, live, and spend the majority of their time."
-- from page 4, Standard for Carpet Cleaning S001

On a microscopic level, the soiling is as visible as it appears when concentrated on a spill. The illustration below vividly shows the difference cleaning makes on this level. It is taken from a cleaning study back in 1994 in North Carolina by a public school. The pictures are before (left) and after (right) extraction and were taken with an electron microscope for a special test case.

Fibers of our carpets do attract soil that we cannot see. We must realize air quality is impacted when carpets get dirty. Execute a plan to keep yours clean. It is really our health at stake. You'll breath easier when your carpets are clean! We're here for that purpose, and we thank you again for allowing us that privilege.

Berber Olefin Carpet Care Tips

One of the most popular carpets today is a style called Berber. Berber style carpet is most often found in Olefin, or Polypropylene carpet. This type is made of oil or petroleum materials. They are in small pellet shape of various colors melted in at over 2000 F. Since the color is an integral part of the fiber, color loss in this type of fiber is rare. Olefin carpets have a definite disadvantage, however, as they crush and do not rebound in structure. This, in addition to their water-resisting properties make them particularly challenging to clean. And this too is the reason you'll only find them in a style of BERBER. The multi-loop and packed, dense construction keep the matting from being such an impact. So how do you keep a Berber carpet looking great? Follow these tips:

bullet1. Frequently vacuum them, using a power brush vacuum. (Unfortunately, beater bars seem to be disappearing from modern vacuum cleaners, but if you have an old one that still does this, that is the one to use!)
bullet2. Limit the amount of water/ spotting agents used to spot clean them. Blot well and use a dryer to speed wicking so all the spot comes to the surface while you are spotting.
bullet3. Clean a Berber Carpet at least twice as often as you would a plush cut, flat surface carpet.
bullet4. When purchasing, consider the value of variation in color and patterns in sculpturing to minimize soiling and wear appearances later on in the carpet's life. See the Carpet-Rug Institute's Photographic suggestions (bottom of the left side drop down menu) at www.carpet-rug.org . All have a pattern incorporated!
bullet5. Call if you have a unique question, and we'll be glad to offer our suggestions.

New Helpers Welcomed

W e'd like to welcome our two new helpers for our carpet and janitorial service. Earlier this summer Mr. Daniel Powell joined us. He is a sophomore at Emmanuel Christian Academy, and helps us weekends, holidays, and summer. This fall we are training both he and Mr. Thomas Gagne Jr. as carpet cleaning technicians. Tom works with us during the daytime and plans to attend Manchester Community College next spring pending the outcome of preliminary exams to be taken this month. Both are very capable cleaners and we are very glad to have their help.

Wood Floor RESTORE

A new service is available to all our customers who have urethane hardwood floor which needs restoration. Your floor can look nearly new with this service we offer. Surface scuffs and shallow scratches are buffed and resealed. Larger scratches and/or gouges will require sanding. Call us if you'd like more information or a quote on this service, OR just mention it when you have us in your home to clean again.

We thank you for allowing us to clean. It is to us a fulfillment, because we truly do "love to clean!".

Gratefully Yours, C. Pat Lanyon Christine, David & Joseph
